Possible Problem in Supreme Court Appointment

White House refuses to give essential documents

WASHINGTON, July 25 – After the unexpected smooth start of Supreme Court nominee John Roberts in the appointment procedure it seems like rough roads are ahead. While not yet officially requested the White House has already announced that they will not give out any memos of Roberts from his employment for the Bush administration. The administration is claiming attorney-client confidentiality and have made clear that if such a request will be made, which is almost inevitable, they will not comply to it.

As comparison, when Chief Justice Rehnquist was nominated for the Supreme Court he did give insight in his internal memos, not hiding any of his opinions. Senator Patrick Leahy explained that there is a pretty big precedent in these situations, all in favour of publicizing these documents. The Senator continued: ”It’s a total red herring to say, ‘Oh, we can’t show this.’ And of course there is no lawyer-client privilege. Those working in the solicitor general’s office are not working for the president. They’re working for you and me and all the American people.”

This issue is most likely the biggest problem in the confirmation of Roberts for the Supreme Court. Democrats have mostly praised Roberts’ qualifications but have expressed concerns over the amount of information they have been given. Last year Bush’s nominee for the ambassador to the United Nations was blocked for that exact reason, they refused to give enough documents.

London Police Defend Fatal Mishap

The true dilemma when facing potential terrorists?

LONDON, July 24 – The Brazilian electrician who has been innocently shot on Friday has been identified as 27 year old Jean Charles de Menezes. Although apologizing for this horrible event Metropolitan police commissioner Ian Blair defended the shoot-to-kill policy as the only way to stop suicide bombers. De Menezes left a building that has been under observation since Tuesday and headed for Stockwell station while acting suspiciously and wearing a heavy padded coat while it was pretty hot outside. Plain-clothed policemen then followed him into the station and shot him in the head and torso five times in front of passing by passengers.

At first it was told that De Menezes was directly linked to the Thursday bombings but after further investigation it became apparent that he was totally innocent. This incident has shocked the entire world but still there is no “better” solution at hand.

Meanwhile Blair also announced that material used in the Thursday “attempted” bombing is similar to the ones used on July 7th although there is no evidence that links these attacks together. Two of the suicide bombers of July 7th, Mohammed Sidique Khan and Shahzad Tanweer, had apparently enjoyed a whitewater rafting trip only three days before the horrible attack. BBC has reported that the list of that particular party is now under investigation to see if any links to the Thursday bombings can be discovered.

Egypt Terrorist Attack Hits Vacation Resort

Worst attack in history of Egypt

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, July 23 – Egypt has been shocked by the worst terrorist attack in the history of this nation. Several carbombs went off in a very popular vacation resort in Sharm El-Sheikh wreaking immense devastation. At this moment we know at least 75 people have been killed and over 120 wounded by this disastrous strike. At least 7 foreigners were killed in these attacks, including one Czech and one Italian. This awful attack comes after only 2 weeks since the London attacks, and just 2 days since the “failed” second strike in London.

A group claiming to be handling in name of Al-Qaeda has already taken responsibility for this bombing on an Islamic website. The two bombings in London were also claimed in their name.

Sharm El-Sheikh is a very popular tourist and diving destination. Attracting Israelis and Western tourists, especially Germans and Italians. Tourism is Egypt’s largest foreign currency earner and thus an incredibly important industry. The attacks came at the same day as the anniversary of the overthrow of the Egyptian monarchy by an army revolution in 1952.

London Citizens Cannot Catch a Break

Another incident shocks the UK capital

London, July 22 – Armed policemen entered Stockwell Station, just one stop from Oval station, this morning at 10 a.m. and one man was shot. Police believe the man was a suicide bomber trying to get on a train to wreak havoc yet again. Bystanders reported that police challenged the man and then shot him five times after not complying.

Immediately the streets surrounding the scene were cordoned off and the subway system around the Stockwell Station were shut down. Stockwell Station is near Oval station, one of the scenes where a failed bombing occurred yesterday. Investigation has intensified since the events yesterday and this incident is believed to be a part of it. Meanwhile London police are still trying to gather clues from the obviously failed bombings yesterday. The bombs and perhaps accessories could be traced to the original mastermind, although a link with the terrible bombings two weeks ago has not been established.

Al-Qaeda also claimed the bombings yesterday, taking responsibility for all the panic that has been spread the past few weeks. This may imply that there is one cell behind all of the attacks, trying to break the mental stability of the London citizens. So far the people are still standing strong although they’re clearly afraid of further incidents.

Shopping for Women Pt 2

The Women’s Temple…. the Mall.
Start to sow your seeds in this feminine rallying point.
By Strawberry
Ahhh yes, here we are at the mall. Credit card heaven for retailers and women. But finding the one you want depends on the store you visit and of course as always, the LOCATION. I would suggest that you not visit a mall in an area particularly populated by seniors unless you are looking for a woman in that age range. So, just like the food stores we discussed in Part 1, you want to choose one within a college campus area or a more younger populated area should you desire a woman of that particular age range. If you are looking for an even younger girl, I say try the local carnival or Baby Depot. In that case, this article may not appeal to you stroller snatchers.

Now, know your stores and if you don’t here is an example to help you. My experience in both shopping and finding a woman has led me to the following conclusion.

If I am “shopping” for a woman of my age, which is 27, I would go to a trendy store or a store with more of a marketing approach to women of my age. Such as Bath & Body Works, Frederick’s of Hollywood, G&G, Wet Seal, Joyce Leslie etc etc. If I were interested in meeting a woman who is more career orientated, maybe in her thirties possibly a bit older I would try Macys, JC Penny’s even Victoria Secret. For someone a little older if I were you I would try Lord & Taylor, possibly even Stern’s. Scary that I think like this, isn’t it?

But these days you have to. It is increasingly harder to find women and even harder to hold on to them once you do. They, not all but most, are either more career orientated these days or more materialistic. On some occasions you find both qualities in the same woman. This is okay if they choose to self support themselves, but many times I find they are just looking for someone to “take care” of them. I am not looking to give them spending money, wash their clothes or fix their car. I am sure you are not either. Hell, they are lucky if I toast a bagel for them the morning after sex. So, choose wisely and think before hand.

Most women are very “picky” when it comes to finding a man. You could be the most perfect one in their eyes and all you need to do is wear a blue flannel versus a green one and it’s all over. They are choosy and most don’t settle for less and NEITHER SHOULD YOU. So shop around, so to speak, until you find the one you want, whether it is for just a casual or intimate or long lasting relationship. And be assertive in what you say. If you meet her in the mall and want to take her to the food court for lunch say it, straight out, don’t beat around the bush. What is she going to say? NO. Oh well, she’s not the only female in the mall. Don’t act too pathetic either. If you act like not having lunch with her is going to lead you to cutting your wrists, you’d be surprised how many of them will hand you a razor. So just blow it off in that nice way by saying maybe another time and then walk away, which really implies you’re loss, bitch.

You also have to understand that many, especially the younger aged ones, live more on their own these days. Which is a plus for you men. This means they make more trips to the food store, home depot and gas stations then they would if they lived at home with their parents or someone else and had someone doing these things for them. So, look around the next time you are in a hardware store. You’d be surprised how many single women visit them, especially on the weekends.

On a last note, for this brief article about the mall, I say remember it is spring. Women love flowers, many of them plant their own. So, check out the local floral nurseries, the flower departments at your local Home Depot or Lowe’s and don’t forget the food store. Many times they sell plants outside of their entrance door. So, whatcha waiting for cowboy? It’s time to hoe your field. Just don’t be so quick to plant your seeds unless of course you want to deal with her for the next 18 years. Happy shopping and happy sowing!

Bombings Shock London Once Again

Only two weeks since the last drama terrorists strike again

LONDON, July 21 – Exactly two weeks after the disastrous bombings on the London public transit system terrorists prove again that they’re well alive and able to strike at will. Just before one o’clock ambulances were requested at three subway stations in London, a few minutes after that an explosion was reported in a bus but nobody was harmed. Suprisingly and luckily there has only been one wounded reported and there are no expectations of anymore casualties.

The explosions occurred at the stations on Warren street, Oval and Shepherd’s Bush and the bus was stopped at Hackney Road. Witnesses reported a man running away from the station on Warren street and while bystanders tried to stop him they had no success. Later on armed police entered the University College Hospital to apparently apprehend the suspect, another arrest was reported later but no details have been given. Witnesses reported the suspect on Warren street threw a bag in the train which reports suggest might have been a nail bomb.

Blair addressed the nation not long after the events, urging the citizens to remain calm. Obviously these bombings, while being small and not inflicting many casualties, shocked the nation. While security measures have been heightened ever since the dreadful bombings of two weeks ago somehow terrorists still seem to be a few steps ahead of the authorities. The only hope now is that the suspects who have been arrested and the bombs that apparently did not detonate correctly can shed some light on who the masterminds behind these terrorist cells are.
